Rosemary is a beautifully scented plant and looks great in any rockery or border – or even a pot.
In fact, my herbal books say a lot about rosemary and here are some of the benefits I have read about:
It is said to be good for headaches, colics, colds and nervous disease and depression (maybe this is why they say pulling your hand along a rosemary plant before you enter your house makes for a happy home.)
The easiest way to make use of your rosemary is to simply make tea.
ROSEMARY TEA
It is very easy to make a pot of rosemary tea – all you have to is pull a few stalks (flowers, stalks and leaves can be included.)
I usually clip one of the freshest looking stalks and use all of it.
Just pour boiling water over it and let it brew for a few minutes – like regular tea.
Like a lot of herb teas, it can seem strange to drink given its strong fragrance but it tastes very refreshing. I sometimes make a mixed pot and include some mint leaves as well as anything else that takes my fancy from the herb garden.
You can also make a pot of rosemary tea and let it go cold and rinse your hair with it – use it as a hair tonic. It is said to prevent baldness but I don’t know about that.
ROSEMARY BRANCHES
If you trim your rosemary and have no use for the woody trimmings – keep them. Let them dry and try burning them in the fire or woodturner produces a lovely fragrance in the house.
You can also tie them up and hang them anywhere where you’d like to enjoy a fresh herby smell.
Rosemary is a beautiful plant and well worth growing – if you want to learn more about that just click here.
Bye for now
