Now and again something lovely happens and makes the sun shine brighter on my day.
Today was one of those days. I have been chatting back and forth on Google Plus with a lovely lady called Denise Baxter Yoder.
Denise has a beautiful voice – if you can imagine an angel falling softly from heaven, using a harp as a parachute, gently landing on blue grass and mixing it with a bit of jazz – you have an inkling of how Denise’s voice sounds.
Denise also enjoys gardening and yesterday she stopped by and read my slightly tongue in cheek post ‘5 Key Benefits of Gardening.’
Later she wrote this beautiful poem ‘A Touch Of Grace’ and she said I was the source of her inspiration. I was floored because this is the first time in my life I ever inspired a poem and wow it makes me feel great.
But that’s not all because I love her poem. I feel it captures the essence of what it is to garden. It hints at the secret we gardeners share and I’m sure gardeners everywhere will feel the same.
A TOUCH OF GRACE
Enriching earth in a waiting field
Enriches a life in preparation
Planting seeds with thoughtful care
Plants ideas of imagination
Watering by morning’s early light
Waters vision for moments sublime
Sharing wonders in this leafy place
Shares borders beyond a simple pastime
Enjoying a little breathing space
Gives a gardening state of mind
