THE INVASION OF THE CATERPILLARS
I was given several packets of Nasturtium seeds last year, I read they were good at attracting bees and butterflies and also at attracting the predators that would otherwise be eating the other plants. So I planted lots of them, here there and everywhere all around the garden.
The Nasturtium have adding lovely splashes of bright colour around the garden even if it does look a bit like a child had a tantrum with a paintbox.
A GREAT BUZZ
Those gorgeous bright petals have been great at attracting bees who seemed to enjoy buzzing around in the orange trumpets of the flowers. We enjoyed the seeing the bees buzzing around and there’s something nice and peaceful about that little buzzing sound on a summer’s day – I mean what woman doesn’t enjoy a great buzz?
We also enjoyed the butterflies. I noticed there were always groups of one particular type of butterfly around the Nasturtiums; the Cabbage White Butterfly. The lovely, fluttery Cabbage White Butterfly.
A HAIRY INVASION
Of course while you’re admiring the lovely, fluttery Cabbage White Butterfly, they’re busy doing what come naturally – making little caterpillars, lots and lots of little caterpillars, hungry little caterpillars.
STAY AWAY FROM THE HAIRY WIGGLERS
There is no doubt that these hairy wigglers have arrived and they have not come alone. In fact they have brought their Mums, Dad, brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, and it seems, most of the caterpillar community and they’re having a munching party.
A CATERPILLAR MUNCHING PARTY
There are so many caterpillars around the place I am beginning to wonder if we are being invaded. They are even starting to climb up the walls…
I think I’m gonna need a bigger boat…
