THE WILDFLOWER MEADOW THAT WASN’T

WILDFLOWER MEADOW

In my first post about my barren, Burren wildflower meadow I mentioned my disappointment at the lack of growth in the flower department, the speedy growth in the weed department and the lack of any replies in the email department from Gerry, the professional and ‘passionate about gardening’ gardener who prepared the ground and planted it for me.

Since he clearly wasn’t going to answer my email I rang him and asked him why. He replied that he thought he’d leave it to see if it improved???

NO SHOW MEADOW

He firmly declined taking any responsibility for the no-show wildflower meadow saying that it wasn’t his fault. After a brief and interesting discussion he said that he would ring me back in an hour to arrange to come and look at the meadow and that he would take out some of the weeds – although he was really busy – as he had to earn a living. Don’t we all?

He didn’t ring me back as he said and that was yesterday, a week ago, weeks ago, months, many months ago. Funny how his passion for gardening seems to have disappeared. Meanwhile back at the meadow, the weeds keep doing what weeds do – multiplying by the minute and strangling the odd little wildflower that tries to emerge through the weedy mess.

Anyway, I thought I would post a picture or two of the lack of progress.

Are you ready for your close up?

Bye for now

Grace

P.S. Later on in the year I did have some luck with other flowers I grew myself.
